Flight Delayed or Canceled? This AI Tool Helps Travelers Recover Money

    Oct 20

When a flight is delayed, canceled, or disrupted, most travelers focus on rebooking and getting to their destination. They may overlook another important question: Could the airline owe them compensation or a refund?

Gyro, an AI-powered travel service, aims to make that process easier by identifying potentially eligible airline claims and helping travelers pursue them without handling every step themselves.

According to its website and app description, Gyro can analyze flight history, detect qualifying disruptions, prepare claim documents, and communicate with airlines on a passenger’s behalf. It also aims to identify unused flight credits that travelers may have forgotten about.

    How does it work?

The service is designed to reduce the paperwork typically involved in pursuing airline compensation.

    • Find potential claims: Connect your email or provide flight information so the platform can look for past disruptions.
    • Check eligibility: Its AI evaluates whether a flight may qualify under applicable passenger-rights rules.
    • Submit the claim: The service helps prepare and file the necessary documentation.
    • Follow up: It can handle communications and, in some cases, offer escalation through independent legal partners.

Gyro says its consumer service uses a success-based fee model: it charges a 30% commission on compensation it successfully collects, leaving the traveler with 70%. There are no upfront filing fees or subscription charges under its published terms.

Could you be owed money for an older flight?

Potentially. Eligibility depends on the circumstances of the disruption, the airline, the route, and the rules that apply. Different countries have different passenger-protection systems, and not every delay or cancellation qualifies for compensation.

Gyro says it can examine flight history going back several years, but that doesn’t mean every past trip will produce a successful claim.

Before connecting your email, review the service’s privacy policy and understand what flight records and personal information it accesses.

    The smarter take

After a disrupted trip, keep your booking confirmation, boarding pass, airline notifications, and receipts. Then check whether you qualify for compensation or a refund. A tool like Gyro may save time, but compare its commission with pursuing the claim directly through the airline or relevant regulator.
